Assistant Controller

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, departmental budget to actual cost analysis and leading schedules
  • Assist in preparing financial and margin reports required under bank covenant
  • Lead the month-end process, perform month-end accruals, cost allocations, and transfer pricing entries
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including intercompany and bank reconciliations for all entities
  • Prepare monthly amortization of fixed assets and record depreciation, asset revaluation, and disposal transactions as required to ensure accuracy in financials
  • Review and analyze inventory valuation and inventory aging schedules each month for accuracy and turnover
  • Periodically review employee credit card transactions for reasonability and policy compliance
  • Support ERP enhancement projects by evaluating current processes, workflows for internal and system controls and make recommendations for improvements
  • Cash management duties include weekly cash flow forecasts, monitoring cash balances, intercompany cash requirements, and processing banking transactions
  • Responsible for AR collections and providing backup support for payroll functions
  • Assist with annual financial audit and be the primary liaison for the field audit
  • Primarily responsible and accountable for maintaining and creating JET BI reports (write analytical reports of financial and operational nature and publish them to senior management. Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed).
  • Other duties including but not limited to: provide back up for Controller’s absence, spearhead statutory compliance and research initiatives

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting
  • CPA finalist or CPA
  • Minimum 5-8 years full-cycle accounting experience
  • Minimum 5 consecutive years in cash management and inventory maintenance
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • Experience working with an ERP system such as NAV, Dynamics AX,
  • Experience working with a BI tool, such as Target or JET BI
  • Experience working with year-end close and compiling audit working papers
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, knowledge of pivot tables, logic statements
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Versatile and adaptable
