Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build the company’s market position and increase revenue by leading and performing activities to locate and develop new market opportunities through the use of new technologies and/or strategic partnerships
  • Develops a deep understanding of our markets and buyers by leveraging insight from internal and external sources to inform business innovation strategies
  • Actively monitors and focuses on the Food Retail industry with focus on specific areas such as emerging technology, industry trends, new business models, innovation, disruption, and strategic partnerships, as well as key verticals such as HVAC, IoT, and energy management technology
  • Screen potential business opportunities by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials, evaluating options, and resolving internal priorities
  • Direct and manage industry and strategic competitive analysis, research, data gathering, fact-finding and analysis to support the business vision and strategy and to develop, drive and oversee implementation of new technologies and other innovation initiatives
  • Work closely with sales to ensure value propositions, market positioning, and messaging for new products and/or innovations resonate with buyers and that the product and service content is effective
  • Coordinate requirements, develop and negotiate contracts, and integrate contract requirements with the business
  • Lead cross-functional engagement to help bring strategic ideas and innovations from inception through to execution
  • Contribute and influence the strategic direction for senior leadership
  • Ensure to exercise decision-making and independent judgment while being aligned with customers and strategic initiatives


  • 10+ years of business experience working in a HVAC, IoT, or Automation Industry driving corporate strategy, innovation, and partnerships
  • A background in marketing, research and development, product development, or strategy is recommended
  • 10+ years Leadership Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, marketing or related field
  • Strong business acumen, understanding of a variety of business practices, and familiarity with the company’s industry
  • Must be able to collaborate with executives, creative teams, research and development, and product development teams
  • Must be independent and self-directed but able to work and lead a team of creative individuals
  • Must be able to work creatively within a budget and use innovation to find ways of more effectively managing resources
  • Exercise excellent judgment to make tough decisions
  • Must possess an inquisitive and creative mind
  • Strong emphasis on executing with focus in a timely manner
  • Must be willing to take calculated risks and manage expectations of both internal development teams and potential and existing customers
  • Superior research and analytical skills to track and predict trends
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuasively sell ideas
  • Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail
  • High emotional intelligence

Conditions of Employment

  • Permanent full-time employment
  • Travel to job sites, manufacturing facility, and customer locations. Travel will initially be 30%-40% with the expectation it will decrease to 20% after first year
  • Ability to work from home in a home-based office
  • Valid passport: able to travel across North America
